How to use augmented reality in marketing

Using augmented reality (AR) in marketing isn’t confined to digital marketing. AR can also be used in print marketing.

Waahto Brewery is a small Finnish company. Dig2Market and our partner Karelia University of Applied Sciences worked with the brewery to use augmented reality in marketing.

The core marketing tool created was a tri-fold brochure. This can be set standing on pub tables in Finland. With support from marketing agency Digitoimisto Digitaali Oy, the brochure design included AR codes. These are linked to a range of amusing animated characters.

Augmented Reality marketing can bring history to life

Within the tourism industry, there is huge potential for using Augmented Reality marketing to tell visual stories. AR is particularly suited to attractions focused on history. The past can become much more dynamic and interactive via AR marketing.

Digi2Market collaborated with Ilomantsi Tourism Association in Finland to add digital content to Öykkösenvaara Memorial. Karelia UAS media production students created an AR soldier. This virtual soldier talks of the events of the Second World War, which took place at Illomantsi.

The AR experience is accessed via scanning a QR code on the memorial.

How to use Augmented Reality in the tourism industry

Do you know how to use Augmented Reality in the tourism industry? Where does an SME start? What are the possibilities? That’s where Dig2market comes in. We recently worked with Belfast-based, Big Motive, to design an immersive phone “app”. This transforms the way in which tourists experience Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne in Co. Derry/Londonderry.

Dig2market, alongside Big Motive and Ulster University, have created ‘History Space’. This is a phone app which uses augmented reality (AR) and geo-location technology. History Space enables the stories of these 18th-century buildings come alive in an immersive, interactive way.

How Augmented Reality (AR) Tech Can Help Tourism Businesses

AR (Augmented Reality) may be a technology you know little about or haven’t heard of. It is interactive media that adds digital elements to a live video or audio experience. This technology is often used in gaming and education. Did you know your business could use it to boost tourism?

Helen Jackson from Ulster University, recently collaborated with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and arts group Big Telly. Together they developed an app that provides storytelling experiences via AR location-based soundscapes and gamification.

Raise brand awareness via Augmented Reality (AR) marketing

If you’re aiming to scale up on your brand awareness, Augmented Reality (AR) marketing can really boost your business.

Glenballyeamon Farm has been selling free-range eggs in Northern Ireland since 1997. Out There Eggs is owned by farmer Niall Delargy.

Niall wished to use augmented reality marketing (AR) to raise brand awareness. He wanted to use humour. He also wanted to leverage increasing concerns about animal welfare.

Digi2Market worked with Out There Eggs and comedian Shane Todd. The result was an amusing animated Augmented Reality marketing experience.
